Digital Printing is the latest option for printing full color decorations on a variety of media, including fabric. Some advantages of digital printing include:
- Multiple Media Applications: Digital printing can be applied to a wide range of media including fabric and plastics.
- Full Color Designs: Digital printing can be applied full color and does not require color separation as is required for screen printing.
- Lower Cost for Low Quantities: Because ink is printed directly on the product without the use of screens, digital printing is the lowest cost option for low quantity, full color projects.
- No Setup: Without the use of screens, digital printing directly to a garment has no setup costs.
- Tricky Fabrics: Requires lower cure temperatures than screen printing making it possible to print on more types of fabric.
- Limited Production Time: With limited set up requirements, the ability to print in one step and fast drying inks, digital printed products can reduce production times.

Digital printing is accomplished using a digital image of your design, a computer and special printer designed to print on the specific media (e.g. fabric). While technology continues to evolve, most current digital printing capabilities require printing on white or light colored media. While full color digital printing can provide beautiful full-color images at a reasonable cost even in low quantities, screen printing typically provides more vibrant colors and images by use of thicker inks. Likewise, screening ink provides a more durable image that holds up better through repeated laundering. The industry continues to make advancements. In digital printing it is narrowing the distinction between digital and screen printing. Screen Printing |
